About - Jack Kleinman Photography

Jack Kleinman Jack Kleinman

After a long career as a physician, I have taken up photography seriously for the past 10 years. I have studied with several local photographers through the UWM School of Continuing Education.

I’ve also taken photography workshops in Chicago and at other sites in the US, most recently with John Sexton, Ansel Adams’ last assistant.

My artistic education also has been informed by viewing of painting and sculpture in most of the great museums of the world. I have exhibited in juried shows of the Coalition of Photographic Artists in Milwaukee, the Anderson Arts Center in Kenosha, The Sharon Lynne Wilson Center in Brookfield, the Palm Beach Photographic Centre in Florida, the Museum of Wisconsin Art gallery at St. John’s on the Lake and the Racine Art Museum’s Wustum Museum.

I do portraiture, street photography, wildlife and landscape work, both locally in the Milwaukee area and in the many places where I have traveled. I’m looking for patterns and shapes that delight and surprise. It’s always about the light, whether one can find good light and what one can do with it. I have a special love of black and white photography, almost always evaluating scenes for this possibility.
